Siphelele has been working in the youth development sector in South Africa for the past 13 years. She joined Educo Africa in 2004 where she pursued her passion to help young adults to find hope as a Wilderness Guide and mentor. Educo Africa is an At Risk Youth Development organisation that uses wilderness experiential learning to enhance active citizenship among disadvantaged youth.
Siphelele is responsible to take youth from disadvantaged communities that endured trauma on wilderness excursions to experience their inherent potential. As the second phase of the programme, she mentors young adults to live their potential, with a specific focus on social and environmental wellbeing. As part of the programme, Siphelele designs and facilitates experiential programmes in leadership, life skills and Rights of Passage for young people and adults from all walks of life. She was appointed as part of the executive leadership of Educare Africa two years ago with the focus of further developing the organisation to a sustainable social enterprise.
In addition Siphelele mentors non-profit organisations where she further pursues her desire to equip young leaders to actively contribute to the change, they want to see in their communities. Siphelele, loving known as Spesh, is currently studying Project Management and Youth Development. She serves as a leader at the Youth Development Forum in Langa, while serving as a board member of ACTIVATE!
