This one-day workshop provides an overview of two main frameworks to measuring social impact allowing you to identify an approach most suitable for your organisation and its work.

Every day our actions and activities create and destroy value and change the world around us. Although the value we create goes far beyond what can be captured in financial terms, this often is the only way used to communicate accountability. At a time of decreased funding and resources, it is vital that your organisation can also prove its social value added in society.


On this programme you will:

  • Explore the key concepts of measuring impact and the benefits of proving the value of your organisation and its projects
  • Compare and contrast different methodologies, tools and techniques, including the SAA and SROI frameworks
  • Discover recent developments and methodologies of measuring social impact
  • Identify a process that best fits with your organisation


Your Facilitators

Jay Lamb has over 28 years of experience in educational settings, initially working as an outdoor activity instructor, then Environmental Educator, Community Educator, Social Enterprise Advisor and Associate Tutor with the Academy. A social entrepreneur, Jay co-founded Re-Union Canal Boats in 2004.

Mark Richardson is a social entrepreneur and consultant. He set up his first social enterprise to employ homeless people when he was 21. Since then he has set up numerous social enterprises, ran Bangor University’s Social Enterprise MSc, and works with a range of clients to measure their social impact.



This programme is open to anyone in Wales who wants to understand how to measure the impact of their organisation or project.

It is suitable for those working in social enterprises, arts organisations, charities or local authorities.
