Scotland’s Greatest Celebration of Young Social Entrepreneurship
On Monday 8th June 2026, hundreds of Scotland’s school children will gather at the EICC for the Celebrate Young Changemakers Awards; an event to showcase and celebrate their journeys in social entrepreneurship.
Neil McLean, CEO of Social Enterprise Academy shares; “It really is the happiest day of the year. The Awards reflect all the schools hard work in the last year in creating an enterprise to solve a social problem that they care about. It’s trading-based, pupil-led and it’s inspiring to see what they’ve done.”

Bringing together schools, businesses and key sector stakeholders in development and social enterprise, the event is a catalyst for connection, conversation and action for those with an interest in the future of social entrepreneurship.

This year, the day is themed “Play It Forward”, capturing the excitement of the World Cup and showing how these young people are changing the game for future generations.
There will also be a few special guests including Rose Riley, Scotland’s only ever World Cup Winner, and Zander Murray, Scotland’s first openly gay professional footballer.

The day begins with bustling Social Enterprise marketplace with 60 stalls, where young people sell products and share their ideas, along with showcase talks from inspiring established social enterprises including Scran Academy.

Ana Stewart, Chief Entrepreneur for Scottish Government, attended the event last year, and shared; “The social enterprise schools programme is a great example of transformational learning in action. Programmes like this nurture compassionate and community minded citizens, and that is key to a successful, healthy economy and society.”
The event culminates in the Awards Ceremony, where the most impactful social enterprises are publicly recognised.

Koehler Renewable Energy partnered with the event last year, and Director, Alan Matthewson, shared; “We’re delighted to partner with SEA because Koehler is an eight generation family owned business, so we really look for longevity. We look for innovation and that’s allowed us as a business to thrive, and we see it as a way of allowing the children to thrive because that is the next generation to take us forward.”
