By giving young people in Egypt a real-life experience of running their own social enterprise, this programme delivers transformational learning which impacts them, their school and their community.
Social Enterprise Schools Egypt
The Pilot
The pilot program with the American International School involved 192 students from grades 9-12 and they developed 91 aspiring social enterprises.
Light A Spark
Phase 2 started in March 2022, with 75 grade 9 students from AIS. This time, we have organised a partnership with the Misr El Kheir Foundation – a community school for underprivilaged students.
In the recent field trip, the 9th graders went to Fayoum to meet these students and get to know them. It allowed the AIS students to better understand the most pressing social issues in Egypt.
Dragons’ Den Judges
The Dragons’ Den Event gives our learners the opportunity to pitch their social enterprise concepts developed during the Social Enterprise Schools program to a board of experts. Winning enterprises will receive funding to further develop the scale of their businesses.
Awards Ceremony
At the conclusion of the Social Enterprise Schools programme, we celebrate the achievements of the students’ social enterprises during the awards ceremony. There is also a Dragons’ Den competition where students have the opportunity to pitch their social enterprise to a professional board of judges and receive funds to continue the development of their business.
