Steps to Sustainability

A National Lottery Heritage Fund programme delivered by the Social Enterprise Academy supporting heritage organisations in becoming more resilient, forward-thinking and ambitious.

This Steps to Sustainability programme has been supporting heritage organisations across the UK since 2020. With the increasing pressure and financial constraints from COVID-19 still present, a culture of enterprise to build a sustainable and resilient heritage sector is needed now more than ever.

Impact

Participants in the programme embark on a 14-month journey, supported every step of the way with a network of peers and sector experts from across the UK.

The goal is to encourage learners to look outwards, build stronger partnerships and become more comfortable with the commercial aspects of running a heritage organisation. Hear from some of the organisations we have supported in the past:

We have a clearer direction for the development of our fundraising ideas and will now be able to devote more resources to allow them to meet their potential.
